USC Joins the LIBERATED LEARNING PROJECT

The University of the Sunshine Coast
has formally joined the Liberated Learning Project as a full
research and test
partner. Working through
the Office of Student Equity, this innovative university in Maroochydore,
Queensland, Australia becomes Saint Mary's University's first
formal testing
partner in the LIBERATED LEARNING PROJECT.
Dr. Ken Ozmon, President of Saint Mary's Univeristy and Vice
Chancellor, Professor Paul Thomas from University of the
Sunshine Coast signed
a Goodwill Document agreeing to work together at the institutional
level to explore how speech technology impacts students with disabilities,
as well as learning and teaching in the university classroom.
Dianne Piaz, a Student Equity Officer, will spearhead the
initiative at the University of the Sunshine Coast and
has already solicited
the participation of four professors interested in testing the
Liberated Learning concept in their respective classrooms:
- Dr. Paul Ivory and Professor Sue Douglas lecture in
Economics and Marketing. They both teach economics at undergraduate
and postgraduate level
as well as Industrial Relations. Sue has also taught Law at the undergraduate
level.
- Phillip Waite is a lecturer within the Faculty of Business
teaching Export Management
- Bronwyn Stevens is an experienced lecturer within the
Faculty of Arts.
The LIBERATED LEARNING PROJECT welcomes the newest team
members from the University of the Sunshine Coast and
looks forward to
working collaboratively in the coming years.
